Scheduled Personal Property Endorsement
The Scheduled Property Endorsement on an insurance policy is sometimes referred to as "personal article floater". This type of insurance protects possessions such as jewelry, furs, stamps, coins, guns, computers, antiques, and other items that exceed normal limits under your regular home insurance policy.
The limitations for these specific pieces of property are defined in your insurance policy. If you are searching for coverage, ask the agent or company who is quoting you for a list of these limitations. This can be a point that will determine whether you go with one company or another.
For example, you might find that insurance company 'A' will only cover up to $2,500 for jewelry (unless scheduled) and insurance company 'B' will cover $10,000. If all other factors, such as premium and coverage limits, are equal, company 'B' becomes the wise choice. Company 'A' would require a scheduled personal property endorsement (or jewelry floater) that would add to your premium cost.
A personal article floater itemizes and provides a description of each article and lists excluded perils.
There is typically no deductible applied to this coverage.
