Insurance lead sales tips

Insurance4usa.com has been selling insurance leads to agents nationwide since 1999.  More than 1,500 agents subscribe to our service, using our leads to help grow their business. The success of the agent varies a great deal and depends entirely on how they handle the lead once in their hands.

As you can imagine, a common question from our agents is about the success secrets of other agents who purchase leads and have success closing the business.  While we don’t know these methods of success for sure, from the amount of feedback we do receive, we can draw conclusions as to what methods work the best for follow up on our insurance leads.

Our leads are emailed to our agents instantly after a prospect completes a request.  From that point, time is of the essence. 

Agent’s who have the best closing results send an introduction email immediately after receiving the lead.  Their email contains information about themselves (experience, years in the business etc…), the agency they work for, the companies represented and their affiliation with Insurance4usa.com so they prospect understands where they received their information. 

Some agents let the prospect know that a phone call will be following to gather additional information; others prepare a quote based on the best possible scenario and offer the customer the lowest possible premium. 

A phone call follow up is a must after receiving the lead, preferably as soon as possible.  The fresher the lead, the better chance the agent has of closing it.  We believe most prospects shopping online are ready to do business now rather than later so being one of the first agents in the door helps increases the closing ratio.  Once contact is made, try to close the sale on the phone, set an appointment if necessary or take an application.

Often times you are dealing with a consumer who is the type who wants things right away and doesn't want to be inconvenienced by the process. This person might fill our an insurance quote request and if the process isn't simple, could just walk away until next years renewal. Keep the process simple for the prospect. Consider that their time is the most valuable thing to them and respect that. If you make it easy and make it clear that you will take care of any of the hassle involved, you will score points with the buyer.
