Consider a package insurance policy
Many companies offer a package, or combined, policy for your home, cars, and liability insurance coverage. Give seriously consideration to having all your property and casualty policies with one insurance company. Property and casualty insurance products include your car, home, personal liability, motorcycle, and boat.
One important reason is you may have more clout with the insurance company. In the event you have a car insurance claim, for example, the company may be less likely to non-renew your car insurance policy if you have several policies with them. If on the other hand, you only had your car insurance policy with them, the may decide to cut their losses and ask you to find insurance somewhere else.
In addition to having more clout, record keeping and billing are easier with one company. You'll get one bill and may only have to pay one installment fee per payment.
Reasons to have a combined insurance policy.
- More clout with the company means that they are less likely to non-renew your insurance coverage if an unfortunate event occurs.
- Simplified record keeping. With one policy to handle all of your property and casualty needs, you won't have to deal with as much paperwork and your annual insurance review will be a much easier process.
- One bill will mean one installment fee. Installment fees seem to be climbing with every insurance company and having multiple policies on one bill could end up saving you over $100 per year in installment fees.
