In most cases, you'll have to buy special riders or additional insurance policies to cover exposures such as flood and earthquakes. Many people are also surprised to find that their home insurance policy does not automatically cover them for exposures such as snowmobiles, motorcycles, or ATV's. With more and more people working from home, there can also be an in home business insurance exposure.
Depending on where you live, you may need to ask your agent about additional coverage for hurricanes, flood, recreational vehicles and in home businesses. Ask your agent about the correct homeowner insurance coverage. Discuss all of the particular items that you might feel are covered now, and be sure that they are truly covered. If not, find out what insurance is available to provide you with the proper coverage.
